During her residency at PADA Studios in Barreiro, Winder continued her ongoing series of Polaroid self-portraits. She regularly uses photography to document herself as part of her research. In this series, the repeated act of taking self-portraits became a kind of diary during her time in Barreiro. Between 09.06.26 and 03.08.26, she developed the Polaroids in salt water from the Tagus River. The water gradually changes the photographic material, allowing the place where the series was made to physically affect the images.

Ongoing series
Before Release
As part of her research into crying as a physical release of the nervous system, Winder captured her eyes over time. She brought these photographs together on pieces of glass found in the industrial surroundings of the residency. The work was shown alongside the ongoing series of Polaroid self-portraits. Where the Polaroids record the face, Before Release moves closer while placing the image physically further away. The proportions of the found glass echo the Polaroid format, creating a connection between the works. The self-portraits show Winder from a distance, while Before Release brings the eyes into close view behind glass.
